Role description
performs surgeries and other procedures for patients who suffer from various medical conditions. Responsibilities include examining patients and making a diagnosis to determine the need for surgery, reviewing patient medical history and planning the best procedure for treatment, prescribing pre-operative and post-operative treatment plans, performing surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities, and patient function, while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols, and directing and coordinating activities of hospital staff for proper patient care. To become qualified as a surgeon entails many years of experience within the medical field, and requires additional medical training, and other forms of assessment.
