Road Engineer
Role description
plans and designs roadway construction and road-improvement projects. An essential part of their job is determining the exact route the road will take prior to the design phase, how many lanes are needed, how the road interfaces with other roads, and how the flow of traffic will be maintained. Highway Engineers incorporate many tasks and responsibilities including conducting traffic studies, participating in public meetings, collaborating with the planning and construction team, writing technical reports, and conducting construction analyses.
