Hydrologist

Role description

researches, develops and maintains safe and sustainable domestic or natural water management strategies. Apply scientific knowledge and mathematical principles to solve water-related problems such as quantity, quality and availability. Hydrologists could work on finding new water sources, predicting droughts or floods and reducing waste water. Some of their duties include collecting water samples from several sources (e.g. lakes, soil) and measure levels of contamination. In addition, they analyse data with computer models and predict water supplies, and work closely with other scientists and engineers to design water-related structures, such as hydroelectric power plants.
