Epidemiologist
Role description
specialises in understanding the causes and locations of disease outbreaks. Conduct experiments and interpret data to learn how diseases and injuries develop and spread, to develop guidelines which promotes positive health outcomes. Identify factors that contribute to diseases and the populations at risk, to determine ways to control and contain the spread of diseases, or infections, and prevent them from recurring. Epidemiologists assist in creating and initiating public health responses to threats. For example, if health care providers identify a new virus in their patients, studies the cases, learning about how the disease spreads.
